Alina Szapocznikow has left a unique legacy of sculptures and drawings, which she created in both the Communist East and in the West.
At the heart of her oeuvre is the human body, which according to the artist, a Holocaust survivor, is probably the most sensitive among all the manifestations of volatility as a source of joy, sorrow and truth.
Szapocznikow’s works have really only been visible in their totality in the last ten years and this is the first comprehensive publication to provide an overview of her life and work.
Published alongside the exhibition Skulpturen und Zeichnungen von Alina Szapocznikow at Kunstparterre e.V., Munich in 2010.
